The Colonial Theatre is in need of repairs..
with more than 120 years of history comes a multitude of problems.
Jennifer Carlson with the theatre says there’s water infiltration, exterior damage and brick and mortar issues. Plus, community members are always asking when they will fix the interior walls.
Carlson says they must first address the exterior damage before the interior.
“So we really need to chip out that inappropriate and old mortar and repoint the entire wall.” Carlson says those repairs will be quite expensive, which is why they are hoping the community will help chip in.
“So we need $240,000. So far we have $70,000. We’re applying for some grants,” Carlson said.
The theatre is hosting a fundraiser Saturday at 8 p.m. to raise money, but donations can be made at thecolonialtheatre.com.

there’s been alot of destruction in these fires. Human beings have lost everything, and it’s barely been a week. It’s the LA area, there’s, tragically, many theatres are gone.
I’d implore the moderators and those on the site to just hold off on making posts about such and such a theatre being destroyed for a while out of respect for those affected or family & friends of those people.
Take that energy you’ve taken in finding that information and locate a go fund me to help someone affected.
During the renovations to a banquet, the address changed. it’s now listed as 306 Baden Ave.

The Five Below store that now inhabits the former Arcadia has been shuttered for at least 48 hours
“The Philadelphia health department ordered the Five Below store at 1529 Chestnut St. to cease operations for at least 48 hours Tuesday after finding dead mice, mouse droppings and other evidence of rodent infestation.Inspectors also found 22 bags of chips and popcorn with holes gnawed into them, dumpsters with open lids and damaged, stained or missing tiles in the basement.”

Given where the fires took place, there’s going to be alot of destruction. People have lost homes, lives, pets.
Maybe hold off on questions/posting if one thing is there or not for a bit, just out of respect and empathy to those affected?
