OK, so the main screen shows action double bills while people have sex in the seats and balcony and the smaller screeing rooms and private booths show XXX, your right that’s not a PORNO theatre. Sounds like just the place to take the family for a nice show.
I knew him very well and the way he ran his theatres (he used to own the Austin & Hewlett) would make a great movie. Believe me he has resources he got mucho rich in the salad days of porn.
If UA had made the outside of this theatre look as good as it does as a Modells it may still be open. I have to take a picture of it and post it here. They redid the marquee and the entire front in a beige stone, looks so nice.
Atlas Cinemas kicks of a week of $2 movies and $2 concessions with all money going to variety and other charities. I am going tonight to check out “8 Below”. The Diaz brothers should have been doing upgrades at the Ridgewood a long time ago not worrying now. All they ever did was drain the property with little upkeep. They got away with it because there was no competition.

What is in this space now?
The 165th Street entrance was closed and never used again except as an exitway from the theatre.

The 165 St entrance was used again at the end when they lost the lease on the lobby store.

We knew it was coming, that leaves the theatre on 1st Avenue and the Imagasian (Griffith) in an area that once burst with cinemas.
