It now transpires that within days of the cinema closing in January 2005, the interior was deliberately wrecked to prevent the cinema from being reopened and to preclude any attempt to have the building listed. With the seats and equipment still in place in the recently restored and up-graded building, the ceiling was brought down, the balcony front destroyed and the screen and proscenium plasterwork smashed.
Demolition of what remains is scheduled for the 94 year old building, to be replaced by offices and shops.
The Royal Court Theatre has had extensive and imaginative plans drawn up by architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris for a thorough restoration and extension to the theatre costing £10,650,000 spread over four phases. The first of these is a restoration of the auditorium to it’s original 1938 design, colours and concealed lighting scheme. Then a new entrance foyer will be constructed to relieve the very cramped existing box office. The final two stages are Vertical Connection to link all areas of the theatre followed by a new venue on the roof, commanding “stunning” views across the Liverpool skyline.

Orion Bingo closed recently, and in June of 2010 the building was demolished – the frontage collapsing across the road during the process.
