Dukes Theatre Cinema

The Dukes Playhouse is dynamic arts centre acting as a touring theatre venue, a producing theatre venue and a cinema combining mainstream films with more enterprising foreign language and ‘art-house’ offerings.

The auditorium has a single well raked tier of seats, a huge screen and excellent sound system. There is a spacious foyer with the box office and bar, an art gallery (which also increases circulation space for cinema and theatre patrons) and an adaptable studio theatre seating upto 198.

It is a very friendly, award winning venue situated on the outskirts of the main town centre. The Dukes was converted from a former 18th century chapel in 1971.
