Indeed. I was quite shocked when I initially saw this. If they are not going to rebulb these, they should at least install a recessed light beside it, much like the medium-sized rooms.
Although I didn’t live too close to this theater, I’d occasionally catch a flick here since I had a family member who worked at the mall. Although I peeked in the lobby when I was here a couple of weeks ago, the last time I saw a movie here was 2007, since I no longer live as close to Aventura as I did back then.
They should have just waited to build the theater until the town was more developed. Regal would’ve been able to build a theater like the one Cobb had planned, even if they waited a few years later to do it.
This looks great!
They did a pretty good job compressing it. Thanks for checking the pics out.
Is that moon working?
Is that one of the “satellite” concession stands in the background.
The “City” motif this theater has is pretty cool.
For a retrofit IMAX, this one has a decent-sized screen.
Is that door and gate in the center for the concession area?
Is this one of Regal’s “flagship” theaters?

Can’t wait to see those. I’m especially looking forward to the one for Hollywood 27.
You are correct about Auditorium 2 and 12. Theater 17 has the lighthouse mural.
Does anyone have photos of this theater back when it had 18 screens?
@greenth1ng I believe Sawgrass has this in Auditorium 15, which seats (approximately) 300.
Back to RPB 18, I’ll try to get more pics of this theater (as well as mural shots) when I go back on Friday.
The mural looks great from this angle.
This theater is currently being turned into a shooting range, aptly called “Regal Range.”
Even though this is one of the theater’s smallest auditoriums, this is not a bad size.
AMC recently acquired this theater.
I’d like to see that.
This is still just such a cool exterior.
Still love those murals… and the colors they used for the frame fit well with the color scheme of the auditorium.
What does that door lead to? Is it a public hallway or the projection booth?

This has to be one of the strangest stadium-seating retrofits I’ve seen.

I know some people may hate it, but this theater has one of the coolest exteriors I’ve seen.
