Did all the guys and gals that worked in the theatre business in Knoxville just vanish? For a city to be this big it is amazing very little conversations and theatre stories, just like Columbia,S.C.Oh, I forgot they are College towns,

“The Laughing Policeman” was no comedy. a gritty cop movie of Dirty Harry style. Haven’t seen it years. In the movie didn’t Mattheau get his young son out of an X-rated theatre was that the Victoria?

I checked with Ray and doggone it, he had never heard of this Drive-in. I still think it closed why before 1989. I am hoping Tony B. of the old 56 Drive-in will get on CT. hope Ray tells him about it. Tony would know all about the Dixie Drive-in.

I just heard from Ray Hutto that Hi-Way 56 drive-in was on the cable show “AMERICAN PICKERS”.I somehow missed it. Wonder if anyone else saw it. They had Tony Bellamy on the show while they looked through theatre items to buy.

I think with the screen so close to that hill it has been protected from the weather.

Mike Rogers commented about Tazewell Drive-In on May 9, 2010 at 5:17 am

The screen is in near perfect shape. However, the trees have grown so much since the 80’s when it closed i figure the screen will always be there backing up to a hill with Downtown Tazewell above it. Really was a nice Drive-in at one time.Last time i was up there there was nothing in the old Tazewell Drive in spot. And the sad part is in towns that small locals just have no interest in the history of that Drive-in.
