The Dixie Drive-In was the second drive-in in the rural town of Swainsboro, Georgia. In the 1950’s it was running two features nightly, but soon the Hi-Way 56 Drive-In really helped close the 204-car Dixie Drive-In.
It was run by W.H. Kahrr and the Dixie Amusement Co. chain in 1955. Today, its gone. Many of the locals having no recall of the Dixie Drive-In.

It is a pity the Hi-way 56 Drive-in had to close after a long closure. With both the Dixie and 56 gone i guess one would drive to Atlanta to see a drive-in.
I THINK it was open till 1989, does that sound right?
Anyone have an address?
Bob, I can check with Ray Hutto he might know. i know the Bellamy brothers Tom and Tony reopened their parents old Drive-in Hi-way 56 for a few years before closing it for good. Ray has a theatre he built it is on CT, Southside Cinema.
I checked with Ray and doggone it, he had never heard of this Drive-in. I still think it closed why before 1989. I am hoping Tony B. of the old 56 Drive-in will get on CT. hope Ray tells him about it. Tony would know all about the Dixie Drive-in.

The above address will map accurately to the location of the drive-in.
