Hate to say it, but a return to the 70’s won’t cut it in this society. Gone are the days when folks will walk from theatre to theatre in any given neighborhood to see the latest flicks. They want everything under one roof. WE’LL still do it because we’re purists, but
The best option for whomever gets Village/Bruin is to negotiate building an adjoining multiplex attached to either theatre.
Yeah, you didn’t imply it. I simply made an educated guess. Shoot me.
Heh…that must mean we’re either going to be VERY HAPPY (Arclight) or VERY PISSED (Regal/AMC) come April 1st. With this week’s news that Arclight stole the Pasadena mojo back from Gold Class, maybe they’re ready to take Westwood as well?
One can only dream…and wish…and hope…and wish…and hope…and wish…
CLARIFICATION: Paramount (or Scorcese) must not have allowed digital prints to be struck. Or did Mann get rid of the DP equipment as they prepare to “move out”? That couldn’t be the case…that dumb ass Screenvision thing is DP.
I came here regularly when it was open. I always did the best I could to see a movie in the 5 auditoriums on the left because they were the only ones with big screens, big sound & THX certification (back when that mattered!).
Just spent my entire Saturday here on 2/27 for the Part 1 of AMC’s Best Picture Showcase. Decor/layout is mid-90’s era AMC when they switched to those massive stadium seating love seats. Seats aren’t as cushiony due to wear and tear, but I made it through 5 movies in a row without discomfort.
They need to check their projection/sound equipment here. Digital sound kept dropping in and out from the 3rd film through the rest of the event.
They DO have a digital projection/3D house in here. “Avatar” looked and sounded great.
Full house on Saturday 2/20 for “Shutter Island.” I didn’t like the movie but everyone else did. I have no idea what projectors they used but picture/sound were awesome.
Disney is trying to shorten the window on this because, according to the early reviews, “Alice In Wonderland” SUCKS! BIG TIME! One critic has called it “an unmitigated disaster”. So all this ballyhoo is just a way for them to cut their losses.
2A. A big standing ovation to the ownership of Odeon Cinemas in the UK for not taking Disney’s bait and boycotting the film outright. The 411 is AMC is considering a similar stance.
2B. The new management at Disney is slowly but surely trying to destroy our way of life. They want to (first) diminish the impact of and (finally) take movie theatres out of business and switch film releases straight to the home entertainment market. All this crap about shortening film windows is Disney’s first step of trying to redo motion picture distribution. Thankfully (hate it or love it) the $2.5 billion and counting of Avatar’s box office is proving that our way of life is not ready to give up the ship!
Ross/Cinema Treasures Staff: How long will you allow this guy to repost this listing for this theatre? It’s parody at this point to see his countless reposts of this!
According to this LA Times article, The Bridge Cinema de Lux in LA IS NOT part of Rave’s initial deal with National Amusements. However, the theatre IS part of Rave’s deal to purchase 6 more theatres from NA. That deal is scheduled to close in 2 weeks.

The mall itself (the aforementioned dead anchors space) is popular with film shoots. Several movies have filmed in that space.

Is “you know who” getting Chinese just like they’re (allegedly) getting Village and (maybe) Bruin?
Isn’t Village running everything in DP anyway? What’s the last movie they ran on film?
Ed, we know your connections…at least I do. So I consider your statement a dead giveaway! :)
Good move for them. I’d better not see any blinding neon next time I go there.
Are they getting Grauman’s & Chinese 6 too?
Rescinding my standing O for Odeon. They caved in to Disney’s demands and are showing the flick.
Yep. Old article. Odeon has backed down from their boycott. This is the beginning of the end, folks.
Full house on Saturday 2/20 for “Shutter Island.” I didn’t like the movie but everyone else did. I have no idea what projectors they used but picture/sound were awesome.
I saw “The Hurt Locker” in DLP here about a week ago.
WOW! Awesome presentation! Awesome exprience!

OOOPS…read the statement wrong. The DVD is coming out in June. Sorry….carry on.
Alice In Wonderland is coming out in March…not June!
According to the LA Times ad, “Book Of Eli” is still in Grauman’s this week.
Waiting to hear word that their takeover of The Bridge Cinema de Lux in LA has been finalized. That theatre is a perfect fit for them.
Saw “The Book of Eli” with my film club on 1/16 – 7:30 PM show. Crowd was roughly 300-400 folks. Ran on film, not DP.
Mann’s lease here is up in 2 months. Any news of future plans for this place?
I actually did see “School Daze” here. One of my 10 favorite movies of all time!

Just got word that the theatre is currently being demolished.
Actually, I jumped the gun.
