I love seeing Double features at Drive-ins.Someone outta make a book about the movies.Nick, you saw “TORA,TORA,TORA” and “100 RIFLES” a WWII movie and a western one G rated the other R rated.What was playing with" NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD “,? "YOURS,MINE & OURS” okay,just kidding,but i have seen some strange double and triple features on old drive-in ads.Speaking of ads I am sending those back you sent me from the DALE-MARBY DRIVE-in to put on CT for everyone to enjoy. Hope you see this.
Thanks Joe.I stll think the MARRH theatre might have become the CAROLINA theatre.just don’t see how they could build two separate theatres in walking distance of downtown Augusta.I am hoping to hear from the last living projectionist in this area that could shed some light.Ed Blank,who is a CT member remembers going to the Marrh theatre when stationed here at Fort Gordon.I hope he adds his thoughts about the Marrh Theatre. I think he told me he saw an early 007 movie there which would put it open in the early sixties. thanks again for the research.
Oh,its possible,but do you want to sell tickets for one night when the Opera folks show up for the movie.What about the rest of the week.1 out of 10 moviegoers like Opera and that might be too many!
Yeah,what would be a Theatre of the future? How about doing something simple and going back to single screen theatres and quit treating moviegoers like cattle in these 20 plexes.It is all about money,I know.
What a laughable Topic.Who thinks this stuff up,Harpo Marx.Maybe back in the 50’s 60’s or 70’s,but once this multiplexing started it would be a joke,2010 question to a 14 year old moviegoer;“WHAT IS AN USHER?” What a stupid topic.Academy Award for the best theatre.Heck,they call them all Cinemas.now.
Moviegoers in the typical movie age range of 13-24 have no idea what the movie ads/times use to look like when i was that age.Some of the ads you actually cut out of the paper to keep.Today,if you can find them they are about 2 inches long.Who cares what Regal does.
Never heard of it,most of us growing up in the sixties,as kids never heard of cable.by the time I got in the business Cable,certainly Video were nothing anyone at Plitt theatres seem to worry about.On the weekends our theatres were full with it petering out by the last show Sunday evening.Most of the stuff I see on HBO and Showtime have nothing to do with movies,so what about a ban?Ban Nurse Jackie? Fine with me.

I saw “THE FACTS OF LIFE” bet alot of L.A. drive-ins were used in the movies.
Another L.A. theatre with an interesting past.
The Fox theatre in Atlanta had a full apartment as did the Miller Theatre in Augusta with a beautiful large fireplace.

Well, it is NOT listed in my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac so it must have opened in the late 50’s.wish I had more.
42nd Street,couple of those Double features were great.Those were the days.
I think “IN HARM’S WAY” came out in 1965.Don’t know about “FRANKIE and JOHNNY”.

Yes it parked 650 cars and in the late 50’s it was owned by Phil Isley who also owned the Westerner Drive-in in Fort Worth.
