Is the original chandelier still hanging from the ceiling? Will be passing through that town this weekend though won’t have time for a tour enroute to Conesus Lake.
I hope Mount Dora gets their Princess Theatre back someday. I plan to call Main Street Leasing that is now located at the former theatre site and speak with someone about my concerns.
The former Princess Theatre is now owned by Main Street Leasing. The number is 352-735-0334 if you want to inquire about returning it to the Princess Theatre again!
Unfortunately, this show had to be canceled but you can still see this fantastic disco sound group perform on the floating stage in Bemus Point NY on September 4th with fireworks after the show. Bemus Point is on Chautauqua Lake in western New York State. Go to www.bemusbaypops.com for more details.
Mr. Harley is the curator of the Jimmy Stewart Museum in Indiana PA. In these times any donations to the Museum by those of us on Cinema Treasures would be greatly appreciated I’m sure. Thanks.

I’ve been told by the curator of the Jimmy Stewart Museum, Tim Harley that the movie It’s A Wonderful Life starring Mr. Stewart is featured each November at the Indiana Theater.
Would love to see vintage photos of this theatre at both locations in Avon. Did it ever have a vitrolite exterior of that era? Vitrolite were colored glass panels and the term can be found via a Google search.
I recently met a gal who travels through Ridgeway PA from NJ on a monthly basis and she told me there is a commemorative plaque where the Strand once stood on the corner of Main and N. Broad. Very nice.
This theatre still has its exterior design. Wonder why keeping it a theatre wasn’t preserved and wonder if there is a effort “afoot” to return the Princess Theatre to the citizens of Mt. Dora?? Hope so!
Sure you like to see a 1940’s photo of this theatre that should be restored to a theatre again as Mount Dora is a quaint FL community in central FL. The 2006 post didn’t seem to work.
Yes, Lost Memory is very much missed as he was one of the best CT members and I do feel his reasons for leaving were well warranted though I wish he had decided to remain a member with his wonderful contributions. Having written this about Lost Memory I don’t intend to write about it here again as these comments should be left to personal email and not taking up space on the subject of this drive-in.

Richard: Thank you for your kind words and I hope to visit your community someday.
Chuck: These former Mooresville theatres should be on CT. If anyone knows information, please add these names. Thanks.

The Polk Theatre in Lakeland FL is a must-see as is the restored Athens Theatre in Deland FL.
Great news as this art deco is a “cinema treasure”!
This theatre was featured today on the Weather Channel when Mike Sidell broadcast in front of the theatre…could see the vertical marquee.
Hope you show some classic movies as many theatres do.
Let’s roll…congratulations!
