According to the website,June 15, 2010, this Drive-In will not open this season & is closed. No explantion was given as to why this Drive-In would not open this season & is closed.
After looking at the picture ( 2010 photo) of this theater that Chuck posted on April 20, 2010, shouldn’t the status for this theater be changed to closed ?
Where I live, theaters that were Kerasotes in Illinois & Indiana are now listed as AMC Theaters. There are two twin theaters, close to where I live. One of the twins has increase the number of times it shows movies since AMC took over.
Tim White, the Indiana Theater website stills works. I saw posted on the site yesterday, there will be a free family film festival starting in June. The Indiana Theater seems to be on life support by barely being open. As there is very little activity taking place at this theater now, unless it’s a private function. I don’t know how the owners of this theater can afford to pay the expenses when the theater has very little activity taking place. Which may explain why the theater doesn’t look grand on the outside like it did at one time.
Uptown Adviser, I definately would say that the Indiana Theater @ Terre Haute, Indiana is a palace. Though very little, unless private functions is taking place at this grand theater now. It’s too bad some person or group doesn’t buy this theater & restore it. So it can be once again be the great theater that it once was.
Is this theater still open ? On it’s website it only mentions a comedy show that took place on March 27, 2010. Looking at the 2009 picture that Chuck posted above, the marquee needs a paint job & T. L. C. It’s sad this great theater isn’t been taking care of. There were three marquees at one time. What happpen to the other two marquees ?
Lost Memory, it was called Casey Drive-In. The last owners were Robert & Betty Johnson. Who also owned the Lyric Theater @ Casey. My sister worked at the drive-in when she was in high school. I use to hang out with one of the owners sons when I attended the drive-in. I spent some time in the projection booth. The concession building is the only building still standing. The screen & ticket booth have been gone for several years. I have many great memories at that drive-in.
After the fire, the Lyric Theater building was torn down. A parking lot & the Casey City Hall building was built in the location where the theater & a laundy mat building once stood.
I grew up in Casey & attended this theater. An Elvis Presley movie was showing at this theater on the weekend when this theater caught on fire. Robert & Betty Johnson were the owners of this theater. They put in a Theater ( much smaller) also name Lyric at the orginal Lyric Theater location in Casey, after this theater had the fire. Robert & Betty Johnson also owned the Casey Drive-In Theater ( been closed for several years). The smaller Lyric Theater has been closed for several years & was used for a restaurant, retail & youth center. Presently this building is vacant.
Chuck,
What comments I have read online about this Theater, I’m reluctant about seeing a movie at this theater. There are comments about theater being dirty, mono sound, seats being in bad shape & should be replace, seats being dirty, projector equipment needing maintance or be replaced. One person wrote about something nibbling at his leg 20 minuutes into the movie. On My Space for this theater, it had a picture of two young men as being the owners for this theater. Which might explain what the theater is in such bad shape. This use to be a great movie theater to see movies at. It’s sad to hear it isn’t being given the proper care.
The sister theater of this one (Plaza North) became a retail store.
What’s the status for the Liberty Theater? Did the people who bought the theater give up on doing the redo work on it? Will the Liberty Theater ever reopen & show movies again ?
The Meadow’s Theater’s My Space Blog shows that “Where The Wild Things Are” & “With A Chance Of Meatballs” is showing December 11th thru 17th , 2009 at the Meadows Theater. The address for the Meadows Theater is: 1 Meadows Shopping ctr., Terre Haute, Indiana.
The information about this theater is not correct. This theater was open & showing 2nd run movies when I was at this shopping center a year ago. This theater has not been demolished.
According to the Indiana Theater website, the only activity taking place at this theater now is free family movies. Shown on Wednesday morning & afternoon. So sad,a beautiful theater like this is barely being used now. Wish I had the money to buy this theater & have it busy with activity again like it was when I was growing up.
I was looking at the Indiana Theater website this afternoon. Though it states the theater would reopen the first part of March, the theater doesn’t appear to had reopen. As there is no listing of a movie(s) being shown at the theater on the theater’s website. I drove by the theater a week ago. On the marquee was only the words “ Think Spring”. It’s the afternoon of March 25, 2009 when I’m writng this. I don’t think the owners will be able to sell this theater quick considering the price they are asking for it. Unless someone like Donald Trump is interested in buying the theater.
What I read online the reason the deal fell through was when the building was inspected by an building inspector for the buyer. Mold was found in the building. The inside of the theater would had to be gutted & rebuilt before the theater could be reopen. The seller had the possible buyers believing the theater building would be a turn key operation. The buyer who pulled out believed untill the building inspector gave her the bad news about the building. There wouldn’t be much worked involved before reopening the theater. So who ever buys the theater will have to plan on spending a large amount of money in redoing the theater besides the price they paid for the
building.
Yesterday on the Indiana Theater website it stated the theater would be closed till sometime in March. Though there will be a music concert in January at the theater.
On the Indiana Theater website today , it states the theater will be closed for January. Will be making some updates to the sound system and construction activity for the installation of the Pipe Organ. They are taking donations for the Pipe Organ project.
The Golden Dragon Acrobats will be at the Theater on February 11, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
The Heart Theater, Effingham, Illinois is for sale or lease. The Theater has been closed for several months. Go to the 21st Century Cinemas Website, then click on the Heart Theater, there are several interior & exterior pictures of the Theater.
There is some new photos of the Heart Theater on the 21st Century Cinemas website. Click on the Heart Theater, it’ll take you to the pictures. The Theater is still for sale. I think the owner is making a mistake not having the theater open since he wants to sell it & is asking a high price for it. The status of the Theater should be change to close.
The owner(s) would have better luck selling the Heart Theatre at Effingham, if it was open instead of being close as it has been for several months. Earlier this year the theatre close again about as fast as it had reopen.
The 21st Century Cinemas website shows the Heart Theater will be closed again this weekend, May 11th – May 13th. On the Yahoo Movies listings, it shows the status of the Heart Theater being temporarily closed.
Status of this drive-in should be changed to closed.
