I’m a Three Stooges Fan Club member, trying to confirm a personal appearance by the “3” Stooges (Moe Larry and Shemp), on a bill with Wee Bonnie Baker, the Barretts and Don Hooton, after an appearance by the A.B. Marcus Revue. The movie “Queen of Burlesque” was also shown. I have a display ad, but no dates (or town shown). Believe it was the Summer of 1946, and may have been Shemp’s first appearance after Curly’s strokes. The National was advertised as air cooled and showed a phone number of JA-7863.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks Frank Reighter

The Three Stooges Fan Club is trying to document a 1957 personal appearance of Joe Besser, Moe Howard and Larry Fine as The Three Stooges at the Paramount. This would be the only personal appearance by Besser with the Three Stooges. Any documentation, such as a newspaper ad or review would be greatly appreciated. I’m a member of the Three Stooges Fan Club in Pennsylvania. The Club is presently trying to document personal appearances of the Three Stooges. In today’s (May 9. 2009) Philadelphia Daily News, Jason Nark ( ) wrote a great article (pp 6 & 13) called “Curtains”, referring to attempts to restore South Jersey movie houses.

In the article, the Harwan in Mount Ephriam was mentioned as a former vaudeville house where Abbott & Costello, Laurel & Hardy and the Three Stooges performed. We would like to document the Three Stooges appearances, as far as dates goes. Obviously, any other Three Stooges personal appearances anywhere would be welcome news.

As you can well imagine, the documenting of the personal appearances is a daunting task, to say the least. But, with help from people like yourself, it can be done.

Does anyone have any information on The Three Stooge’s live appearance at the Oriental? A friend of mine lives in Chicago, and is also trying to find out if the Three Stooges lived in Chicago at any time.

I’m trying to confirm a promotional appearance at the RKO Castle Hill Theatre, of the Three Stooges, Moe, Larry and Curly Joe DeRita, to promote either “Three Stooges Meet Hercules” (1962), “Three Stooges in Orbit"1962) or "Three Stooges Go Around the World in a Daze” (1963).

I’m a Three Stooges Fan Club member. The Fan Club is trying to document all of their personal appearances. Any help on this, or any other PA’s would be appreciated.

I.m a member of the Three Stooges Fan Club in Penna. The Club is trying to create a list of all Three Stooges personal appearances. The club has confirmed a Personal Appearance by Larry, Moe and Curly Joe DeRita (the last “third” Stooge) in 1959. It’s possible there may have been an earlier appearance with Curly Howard as the third Stooge. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks

Re: Joe DeRita being married while playing at the Roxy. I have located a Marriage in July 1935, during Joe’s 31 week engagement at the Roxy. He was also in the area at the Columbia Theatre (Toledo?) working for Sam Manheim, and at the Cameo Theatre (Akron?) for Dick Ziesler. Does anybody have any information on Burlesque at those theatres, or any additional information on Joe DeRita?

Hi Ed,
Thanks. I had the book (“Ghosts of 42nd Street” by Anthony Bianco)at one time (Before I downsized), but couldn’t remember the name or author.

The 1481 Broadway address was once the early home of the Times Square Visitor’s Center, now housed at 1560 Broadway. Anybody have any idea what is at 1481 Broadway now?

I’m a member of the Three Stooges Fan Club in Pennsylvanis.
According to the New York Times (Nov. 23, 1939), Arthur Mayer, operator of the Rialto, the theatre would be redecorated in the pre-
Christmas period with a series of murals reflecting the theatre’s film policy. including Dracula, Frankenstein, Laurel & Hardy and The Three Stooges, done by artist Nat Karson. Unveiling would take place Christmas Day (Dec. 25, 1939), to celebrate the 4th Anniversary of the opening of the “new” Rialto.
Can anyone add to the story, such as what happened to the Murals? Also, the Fan Club is trying to document all the Three Stooges' Personal appearances. Please email me at
