Drove by yesterday. Chute and dumpster are gone. All doors have been removed from the building. So strange to see the walls of the interior corridors leading to the theatres.
I work as a projectionist at the Paris from time to time. I choose to walk from the Port Authority to the theatre. 42nd and 8th to 58th and 5th. A 25 to 30 minute walk, so there is no reason why this cant make it.
Well, drove by today and there are a few dumpsters in the parking lot with a shoot coming out of the second floor. Its being emptied out. Truely the end for this once great multiplex. Supposedly retail will be built. I still like my idea for a 3 screen drive in, but thats just me.
My father was a projectionist here in the 60s. Youn are correct about the Langs. I remember always hearing that name. In the late 60s/early 70s Fernando Bravo operated it along with the Royal in Perth Amboy.

You described the timeline so perfect about Network Cinema Corp. The Jerry Lewis Twin my dad worked at went thru the same thing.
Just finished tomorrows movie “Muppets Christmas Carol.” Print is in decent condition. Very surprised for a 30 year print. I also inspected Januarys movie “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.” A brand New never used print.
bigjoe59, I was here last night to see Kimberly Aqimbo, and as I sat in the balcony, I thought to myself what a keystone from the booth to where the screen would be. Must have been some fun trying to get a focus.
Demolished as of 4/19/2023.
Must have made for easy twinning. Just drop a wall down the aisle and your all set.

All equipment and fixtures in this theatre are going up for auction in the near future.
Tommy Luca, the Union County Arts Center in Rahway NJ runs 35mm film features once a month. You may want to check it out sometime.
I guess for now its a stay for 42nd st. I wonder if they left it off because it still has the 70mm set up and Oppenheimer is coming out this summer.
Looks like it opened as a twin then had one theatre split at some point.

THe Jan 6 print, as mentioned above, is brand new never run print.
Lost and for no reason at all. These film companies couldnt make a handful of 35MM prints for theatres like this??
