I was Manager of the Eric 3 Montgomeryville from December 1983 to November 1984 and then became a DM for the Eric Theaters first in Bucks Co and Jersey then Delaware and Chester and Montgomery counties.
I saw “The French Dispatch” in Theater A. Definitely the best screen but needs a redo. New seats at least. Seems the current owner of Landmark should realize this. The Ritz Five is a far cry from when Ramon Posel owned this theater.

This really was imo the best of the Ritz’s. Stadium seating,the theater on the right as you entered, was perfect . Was never in the theater to the left when it was Ritz East.
I was a District manager for Sameric,which ran the theater. Great memories of Francis Potter and Joanne Teofilak. I don’t believe this theater closed before Sameric sold. The theaters to UA. I left the company in Aug 87. My other theaters included Ardmore, Wynnewood,Barclay Sq,Pilgrim Gardens, Clifton Heights, McDade,TriState, The Terminal, Frazer, West Goshen,Concordville and of course Brookhaven. None of which exist today.
In the beginning,it was part of a partnership controlled by Messed. Abel,Levison and Koff who also operated the Lawrence park (Broomall) which later was operated by Sameric, and the Keswick (Glenside) which was managed by RAM after the death of Mel Koff in 1976,as well as the Theater 1812 in Center City. Lawrence Park is now a Barnes and Nobles, the Keswick a live concert venue and 1812 is now part of Boyd’s men’s wear store.
I was a DM for Sameric 85-87. This was one of the theaters in my District. “Stand by Me” opened here,before moving to the Wynnewood. During it’s run Phil Collins of Genesis saw the film from the balcony.

I was an usher here from 1973-1975. Films we played included The Sting, A Touch of Class, American Graffiti. Worked there for Me. Mel Koff,who taught me a lot about the film business. He was a great guy to work for.
I was a district manager for Sameric, Pilgrim Gardens was one of my theaters. During the run of “Stand by Me” ,Phil Collins I town with Genesis,attended a show sitting in the balcony which was usually closed to patrons.
During the time of 83-84 we never split films (or played) the same films as the 309 Cinema.

Interesting to read in local media, developers were considering the site for a new high rise.

I saw “The Sound of Music” there as a child. Beautiful theater.
I remember seeing “Hester Street” and “The Way We Were” here. It also played X rated fare.
Saw Top Gun Maverick here in the Dolby Cinema. Excellent picture & sound.
Also,the phone # is no longer in service. What a shame,this was nicest of the Ritz theaters.

Thumbs up to the PFS for reopening the Bourse theaters. Will miss the Roxy though.
