Channelside no longer has an IMAX. They lost the licence a few years ago. Also, they do longer host the Gasparilla Film Festival. Instead, it’s at Cinebistro at Hyde Park, Muvico Centro Ybor 20, and the Tampa Theatre. The theater is obviously a Regal design and the last time I was there it was dingy and tacky, with a curtain around the concession stand.
Southern Theatres is taking over this location. It’s finally on their website. It’s going to be under the Amstar name instead of The Grand, and will be a 14 screen theater.
This theater was remodeled and now has 12 screens. All digital, stadium seating, DBOX seats, beer and wine, and a giant arcade. Reopened for Tron Legacy.
Still not open. They changed the name of the new theater, but the old sign is still on the front of the theater.

Doesn’t look good at this point, the new owners of the theater also run the Channelside Cinemas theater, which just filed for bankruptcy.
