Did the Miller make it? I heard it was being looked at as a possible home for the symphony without much excitement. Could it possibly be saved, what a tragedy if were not. Might it become a performing arts venue much like the Imperial. Augusta do the right thing and save this treasure.
I had a tour of the Grand about 10 years ago. Fitzgerald should be extremely pleased that they have such a wonderful venue to be enjoyed by generations to come.
The Riverside Drive-In was Macon’s newest, opening around 1962 with “The Great Escape”. It was owned by the Georgia Theater Company, this was and still is one of the nicest parts of Macon. Weekends were special here while in high school, the Riverside was were we would meet, we had certain rows we all parked on, what great times, GWTW!!

My wife and I recently attended “In the Mood”, a live musical at the Lucus. What a magnificent theater!!! The restoration has brought this movie palace back to it’s original form, the detail done on the interior looks like a fine painting. The marquee and exterior are exquisite. What a showplace!
What a treasure, way to go Cairo, wish other towns would see the value of the treasures they have before it’s too late, too many have been lost already.
The Carver Theatre is one of only two classic theatres left in Columbia. The Fox being the other which is being restored and will become the Nickelodeon in the fall of this year. The Carver has not had much attention, hopefully that will change. Recently a historic building was demolished in the Waverly area and that has brought other historic buildings under the microscope, which is a good thing.
I don’t have an exact address for the Motor-Vue Drive-in, however it was located on Eisenhower Parkway close to the intersection with Pio NoNo Ave, the lst Kmart in Macon was build either on the site or next to it. The back of the Westgate Theatres would be about where you would have entered the Drive-in off Eisenhower Parkway.
I believe Perry had a theatre in town named the Pal, the building was still there four or five years ago in need of repair and renovation, I hope it was not torn down for a (you guessed right) a parking lot. There may have been another theatre as well in town. Can anyone look into this, would appreciate any information and photos.
Whiteville had a drive-in called the Starlite, which I understand served two purposes, a drive-in theatre and a drive in resturant on the front or outside. Any information or photos would be great.

Great photo, that was before I remember the Bibb, not sure when they renovated, did not realize what a drastic change it was, am still hopeful someone will restore it.

Does anyone have any information, or pictures of the movie theatre that was in Evergreen, NC, about 12 miles from Fair Bluff, it was around in the 40’s and 50’s.

Got to see the inside of this beautiful theater around 2006, so glad Augusta saved it, what a treasure.

The Theatorium was Macon’s first movie theater on Third Street opening in 1906 showing “The Great Train Robbery”.

I understand the old Muse Theatre in Perry is going to be renovated and restored. Site needs to be updated to indicate Perry had a indoor theatre.

The Skyway I am told by long time Columbians was located right across from the SC State Fairgrounds on Rosewood Dr.
There was also a theatre in Chadbourn, on the main street I understand, any information or photos?
