No problem , in the oringinal annoucement Alamo stated for a Christmas2112 opening but there were delay. It will be worth the wait if they are able to do it right.

Something, or should I say nothing is going on over here. The Alamo website says the theatre should be open in time for the 2102 holiday season. As of yesterday when I drove by there was nothing being done. Not even a sign or notice of anything happening. Have the plans been scrapped? Hope not. I hear only great things about the Alamos!

Taking a look at pictures from the neighborhood it looks comparable to the Alamo South Lamar, I imagine it’ll be programed accordingly. (Lamar is all digital, excellent presentation – with a few 35MM in place, they have a few special events but The Ritz, 1 ½ miles away runs events every night). They consider the Lamar location to be a bit more “family friendly” – and the Alamo is most of the time (not of coarse during Terror Tuesdays or Weird Wednesdays).

Think of the Alamo as a cross between the best movie theatre you’ve ever been to and The Cheesecake Factory (in that they have a huge menu, and it’s all fresh and delicious). They care about the presentation and movie selection – as well as having a world class beer and cocktail selection – and they have lines around the block because seeing a film there is just more fun than seeing it elsewhere. (I just returned from 3 weeks in Austin and every time I go to my local, and very good theatre chain, Dipson – I’m slightly pissed someone won’t bring me freshly baked chocolate chip cookies with a scoop of ice cream – 90 minutes into the movie – – the Alamo has spoiled me on other theaters). I can’t wait for Alamo to come to NYC so I can take my friends and show them just how awful AMC’s Dine In Theaters are.

Can’t wait for the Alamo! Have only heard good things about the chain, especially their no tolerace policy of cell phones. BTW the picture above is ridiculous. That pic is two blocks away and facing the wrong side of the street!

This theater is closing on June 24, 2012 as per a notice posted. Apparently this is a result of the newly opened competitior National Amusements Ridge Hill cinema.

This theater opened as a fourplex in 1977 by original owner B.S. Moss with “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

This was originally B.S.Moss – and for some reason they became ensnared with UA, as they did with the Criterion in Manhattan.

Do they call this movieland? I was not aware, the marquee just says UA Theatres and moviephone called it the Yonkers.

I mean the Central Plaza Cinema (Clearview/General Cinema).
