I see what you mean,That is midnight movie or drive-in stuff.Now back to the Loews Crescent.
Howver, those are Gems for Midnight Shows.movies like “Garcia'.
I did watch it again on DVD a few months ago.Somehow my son Sean had it,It was a bad movie.I think it played here at the MILLER for a week.
Yes I know,not one of his best.

The worst movie ever to be shown at this theatre during my days was the Warren Oates film,“Bring Me The Head Of Afraido Garcia” a low budget film shot in Mexico.I do not not know how we got this booking as the film was terrible and I do not believe we even sold 100 tickets all the one week it played.But if my memory has not failed me we opened with a new 007 movie the next week to big,big, business.Oh well the theatre business.
I never would have guess it where Columbia Square was located.But don’t remember anyone saying anything about us playing X rated.Well, I am with You and Nick,Now.

My X rated movie was “STORY of O”. Can’t wait to tell some of old Plitt Theatre buddies.{that I still can’t get to get on CT.Russell has,however at Regency Mall.He seems to be enjoying it}.
Thanks Mike,we had a little rack on the back of the concessions counter which held the cigs,the were inventoried just like the candy and cups,we did not sell smokes at the Loews Melrose and Madison,the downtown houses always more of the bad stuff.Lorilard made Kent cigerettes,and Newports,plus we also sold Marlboro product and others.Cough,Cough!!!!!
We had a cigarette machine at National Hills and maybe the Imperial.I wrote over on Melrose that if you ever get the chance throw a few bucks at the Newspaper Archives for Nashville,Tisloews,I spent two days looking at old ads from my theatres in Augusta.Jotting down titles I had forgotten and put them on Augusta Theatres. Heck,I even played an honest to goodness X rated movie at Columbia 1. If I had had a printer I would have run out of ink copying ads.
ANOTHER THOUGHT FROM THE PAST:When I got my first payroll check from Loews after making Asst. Manager the check at the top said Loews/Lorrilard. I asked my boss about the Lorrilard part and he said Loews owned Lorrilard Tobocco Company,plus CNA Insurance,and Bolivard watch Company.Its funny now that we selled cigarettes at the concession stand in those days. If I remember correctly they were $2.00 a pack in those days,at that price we still sold about 20 packs a week,even though you could not smoke in the auditorium.But in those days smoking was permited in the lobby and we had ashtrays placed there.Things have sure changed in the last 30 years.
Thanks Chuck, the header has been just updated as you probably know, there may not be dates but there are years mentioned,many times.Martin theatres ran this theatre about 1 or 2 years after Loews left. The exact dates I do not know. Thanks Mike, I will check out Nicks postings.

The header on this theatre is still uncorrect,Loews closed this theatre in 1982 not 1972 as listed.
Correction: The Princess Gift Shop was the small storefront to the right of this theatre building.I just remembered that a Pin and Shaver shop was located in this space during my days there,it later moved the the historic Arcade about a block north of this location.The bookstore was located next door called “Cokesbury” also next to it was a “Hallmark” card store which was located on 5th Ave which was located earlier on 5th Ave,next to the 5th,Ave Theatre which has its own page on C.T.
I love a bookstore,Glad I wasn’t working there.I would have been next DOOR. Lol.
According the the November 2010 Nashville Retrospect,this theatre was built in 1949 named Princess,in 1959 a cinerama screen was installed and the name changed to Crescent, being called Crescent Cinerama for a few years.The Princess Gift and Fun Shop was next door,In my years working at the this theatre the gift shop had become a bookstore.
yeah,of all the Assistants Mike rogers was one theu could plug in anywhere.Much like Loews all Plitts had the same BORS just diffrent girls in Box.Most of the time they did ALL my Closing paperwork,did I not have it made.

Another thought several times due to a manager being sick or on vacation I would have to open one of the suburb houses and then go downtown and close the Crescent.Of course my great salary made up for this.I will say though that Loews was very good about their salaried persons,I had to have an operation in the late 70’s and could not work for 6 weeks, I got paid my full salary for those weeks and after returning to work for two weeks was able to take my scheduled vacation.Not many companies would do that nowadays.
