What is the current status of this theatre? Through my research I find that Michael DiAngelis only built 3 theatres…Beaver Falls PA, Rochester PA and Astabula OH.

TC: And it’s truly a great little art deco cinema that has survived the advent of television though it was closed for many years!

Any plans to restore and open this single screen theatre?

Perhaps the coat of arms can be seen on www.warnertheater.com?

Can anyone give me information on the official Warner Brothers coat of arms?

“In 1972, the Embassy Theater Foundation purchased the theater to save it from demolition and conversion into a parking lot.” This is what we like to read. May the Embassy Theater continue to prosper and be enjoyed!

Wally: Sounds like you are connected with the Camelot so will ask for you when I’m in town come October.

This art deco theatre would be a must-see when in Carlisle for Corvettes of Carlisle. Old theatres and old Corvettes….a great combo!

I’ve seen this theatre and the ticket booth or kios by the street is very nice as is the entire theatre restoration. I can’t go without a stop at Vidler’s 5 and 10 store. (www.vidlers5and10.com) It’s a special treat before seeing a movie at the Aurora Theatre as they sell many of the nostalgic candies we grew up with as kids!

The former Buffalo Genesee Theatre isn’t listed on CT…only one by that name is in Illinois. Are we spelling the name correctly?

Sam_e: Thanks for this update on the Riviera chandeliers as I’ll be there next Wednesday night for the May organ recital!

Patsy commented about Camelot Cinemas on May 13, 2005 at 3:49 pm

Wally: Thanks for the update as I will make note of the theatre address. When I was in Greenville over the winter I’m surprised that I didn’t see the Camelot as I’m always looking for a marquee which tells me a theatre is at a particular location. I wanted to see the beautiful tree lined street, visit Mast General and the waterfall area so may have been close and didn’t know it.

WallyFayssoux: Where is the Camelot Theater located in Greenville…near the box office address given above? I’ll be at the BMW plant over the weekend of October 15th for a car event called Euro Festival. I would like to see the Camelot while in town and would there be a production planned for that weekend?

And I sincerely hope that your father has exterior and interior photos of the Grand that he can share with me. I know many theatres that are about to close take photos of the marquee and then have prints or paintings made as momentos.

Steiner: What a thrill to finally hear from you again. I will be giving your father a call in the near future to arrange a meeting to ‘talk theatre’! Was your father the last owner of the Grand Theatre?

According to CT member, Richard Grow, the chandelier that once hung in this theatre may now be in the Riviera Theatre/N. Tonawanda NY.

Richard G: I will be going to the Riviera Theatre next Wednesday night for their monthly organ recital and will ask about the chandelier and whether it came from the Bailey Theatre in Buffalo!

Can anyone post a summer theatre schedule for the Palace so when I arrive in Canton I will be able to see inside this theatre and enjoy a production or musical program?

Patsy commented about Palace Theatre on May 12, 2005 at 5:34 pm

Found it listed under Akron Civic Theatre and had forgotten that I had listed this one among my favorites so will check it out when I visit Akron and Canton Ohio on my summer theatre tour.

I can’t find anything listed for the Civic under the State of Ohio.

Sam-e: I had your email at one time and wanted to discuss former Buffalo theatres with you so will mention it here in the hopes that you read this. My email is on my profile page so if you want to contact me, please do so…..Richard Grow and E. Summer, too.

Patsy commented about Century Theatre on May 10, 2005 at 5:36 pm

JW and Michael C: I dont know if you are in the Buffalo area, but today on WBEN radio, the a.m. talk show host asked his listening audience to call in and and tell what they remember about things in Buffalo that are gone such as restaurants, businesses, parks and THEATRES! I sent the host an email to tell him about CT as there are over 20 Buffalo theatres listed. One person called in and mentioned the Century, but there were many more in and around the town! I have plans to tour the western NY/PA/OH areas this summer to find old theatres or former locations as it’s interesting to see what is at certain locations now (though it can be very frustrating and very sad)if a particular theatre is gone as is the case with the Century.

I have contacted an Erie man who tells me that the Majestic was on Parade Street, but it may be more than ‘closed’ as listed on Cinema Tour.com It may have been torn down by now! :–(
