I checked out advance tickets, and on June 30, no mention of Transformers IMAX. Has the project been canned? I hope so because AMC should install those digital projectors just in time for July and August when all the schoolkids are out!!! AMC made a big mistake by not installing the projection in time for Up, and they apologized for not showing it in 3D, letting moviegoers drive to mostly Clearview Cinemas in Morris and Warren County not to mention the AMC in Clifton Commons, which has benefited from showing Up in 3D.

How does this theater compare with the one on the East Coast in Jersey City?

When I first came to this theater, there was a demonstration film showing viewers what Omnimax was about and it featured a guy named Max. Do they still show it before IMAX movies? I’ve been there a few times. How does it compare with the Dome near Arclight, for when it shows regular movies?

This is to Oregon what the theater in LSC is to NJ.

I agree. Does the theater still have the posters from the Sony days when they showed classic Columbia Pictures movies, or have they been removed? They were plastered on a wall alongisde the escalator that goes up to the IMAX theater, which is the largest IMAX theater in Manhattan, right next to the first IMAX theater that opened in 1982 at the Museum of Natural History.

Up in 3D is playing at this theater. Transformers 2 will be the next IMAX movie to play here, followed by Harry Potter 6 a few weeks before it arrives in other IMAX theaters nationwide.

I think they use two three, two for 4k/2k movies and one for IMAX (digital). It will take a while before the other 22 screens get replaced by the 4k projection.

He lives on in the website as well as the front of soda cups and popcorn bags, not to mention old youtube clips of the trailers. Pretty soon AMC will redesign their website, with no sign of Clip. He lived a long life (1991-2009), and was to AMC what Popcorn Bob was to General Cinema. I think that’s a sign of things to come for AMC, as it prepares for the digital age just like the digital TV changeover.

This delay could help the box office performance of the new Transformers movie, which has select scenes shot in IMAX.

boo!!! I think they should quarantine that building since it has bugs and mice eating up all the stale popcorn, candy, and sticky gum!!!

The idea of brining the Met series to this theater was from a resident of the township who lives in the Fox Hills development located not too far from the mall, who is an avid opera fan and has been to the real met. AMC responded, and the result became a success. I hope they continue to show these live shows as well as the NCM Fathom showings in order to keep this theater alive while others jump into the digital backwagon.

This theater is the third mutliplex with DLP in Bergen County. The other two are in Edgewater and in Ridgewood. All are showing in Up in 3D. Was this place selling out of tickets when Up 3D opened? It will still play until Ice Age 3D comes out…

Going to see Up in 3-D this weekend, hope it doesn’t sell out; if it does, then I’m going to see “The Hangover” in regular 35mm in one of the smaller screens.

Tell me a description of the new policy trailers, Slim Shady. What about the Silence is Golden trailer? Did they change that? THat’s my favorite of all the AMC trailers, cause it warns moviegoers to be quiet, and reminds me a bit of the THX trailers.

I agree. 3D will bring people back to the movies. I think Avatar will be the first 3D movie that will change everything about moviegoing. They are also making a videogame that will also be in 3D too.

moviebuff82 commented about AMC Rockaway Inner 6/Outer 6 on Jun 3, 2009 at 11:38 am

During its period, what movie was the longest running and most popular? I think it would be the Star Wars movies, since the first one came out long before the AMC Rockaway Inner 6 opened on Labor Day of 1977, the same weekend that the mall opened. The Rockaway Outer 6 opened in Feburary of 1981, a few months before the first Indiana Jones movie came out. The Inner theaters closed in 1998 when Armageddon came out, then the Outers closed in 2002 when Spider-Man came out.

I mean nearly next month, since “Ice Age 3” opens. In the meantime, I’m going to ask my dad to drive over to Mansfield to see Up in 3-D since that’s the only stadium seating theater showing it in 3-D.
