Was twinned in 1975 under Martin Theatres/Fuqua Entertainment when the CINEMA II was split into two sections seating 250 seats each. Carmike Cinemas took over this theatre in 1982 from Martin Theatres until its closing in 1995 when Carmike turned the CINEMA II into a second run discount house.
The information regarding this theatre has been revised. It is under the title the Winston Grande Stadium 18 & IMAX. I passed through Kinston’s Vernon Park Mall not too long ago and it seems to me that it has become a ghost mall now that JCPenney(formerly Penney’s)is gone and the only two stores that have remained are anchors Belk and Goody’s,not to mention the Sears Hometown store. At one time,Vernon Park Mall was one of the most popular indoor shopping centers in Eastern North Carolina,and today it is totally dying. I would love to see this popular mall get a total remodeling as it desperately needs one. They can do a fabulous reconstruction of this mall(just like they did with Raleigh’s North Hills)where they demolished half the sections while leaving one anchor store there(like they’re about to do with Belk). I would love to see the vast improvements on its plaza side too. Let’s make sure that greedy corporates in management don’t turn Vernon Park Mall into some high class clientele establishment like they did with Chapel Hill’s University Mall.

The film debut of Billy Crystal and the worst Joan Rivers movie ever made! Who told her that she was a first-rate director for Hollywood?
Dudley Moore’s ARTHUR returns for a second hit run while that silly basketball movie with Robby Benson and Annette O'Toole “One On One” returns to Asheville.
It also got that very cheap horror film that would be most suited for the drive-in theatre crowd “Ruby” with Piper Laurie and Stuart Whitman released in 1977. This Omen/Exorcist/Carrie rip-off was reduced to $2.50 a seat for a very good reason where this movie ended up playing on a first-run venue at Asheville’s Park Drive-In.
A lot of cheap movies got first-run billing at the Biltmore Theatres including “The Boogens”,“The Town That Dreaded Sundown”, “Day of the Animals”,two kung-fu double features “Exit The Dragon,Enter The Tiger” &
“The Five Fingers of Death”,“Laserblast”,“Battle Beyond The Stars”(that Star Wars rip-off produced by Roger Corman that starred Richard Thomas of “The Waltons”,and Robert Vaughn)…not to mention a lot more……
