I have never heard of such a thing as 2 different prints, for one thing it would cost to much and theatre companies are not going to spend more than they have to. Keith is right, one misthread, plus no one in the booth to keep an eye on the running of the print, and guess what, there goes your print. I have seen it happen more times than I can remember.

Years ago I played in a hard rock band, and we played in a place called Gilligans, wow what a great 2 weeks that was. One of my fondest memories. I can remember thinking at the time that this place was once a movie theatre by the way it was set up. Does anyone have any info on this?

I remember every Fri. & Sat night midnight shows of Rocky Horror for 4 & one half years. Thank God the print finally would not play anymore.

My God, where has the time gone? This was the first 70mm film I ever ran as a projectionist. I remember looking out the porthole and seeing a full theatre and was scared to death I would mess up. The great old Norelco`s did thier job very well, and after reel #3 I had gained allot of confidence, and as they say, the rest is history.I really miss 70mm.

Very sad to read this, I had the pleasure of running movies at this Theatre when I aws a member of local 171 of the I.A.T.S.E. The good old days of strong unions, before Ronald Reagan and his union busting,Marty Torreanno (not sure of spelling) would roll over in his grave if he saw his theatres today. All gone.

You are right Patsy, a long time ago I used to work the Carlise Theatre. During the day I would help my friends short order cooking at the Carlise fairgrounds, and at night I would work the theatre 2 nights a week to give old Marshall Klien a break. Marshall was the projectionist there for 30 or so years, I remember the booth had simplex E-7 projectors, and peerless magnarc lamps, RCA sound, and to get to the booth you had to go 2 doors down the street up the steps, and through a beauty salon to get to it. It was always one of my favorites.
Your Friend,
Norelco
I remember going in an hour early just to check out the booth. Back then the old timers were famous for putting carboard behind the screw out fuses, so you would have problems, and would put oil on the takeup belts to make them slip, that way they would get caalled in to FIX the problems, and it would good for them. They even had the nerve to call you and ask if everything was going ok. Many times I would say everything is fine since I found the cardboard you put behind the fuses. A very loud click would follow as they hung up on me, but never again would I have any problems in that booth.

It is sad to see another one go, but what can one do? You cannot force people to come see your product. I just cannot understand how people preffer to sit in crackerbox theatres with 60 seats, and can hear everything in the 2 adjoining theatres, and would rather do that than to go to a wide open Drive-in. Where you get 2 movies for the price of one, plus you can take your own food, and drinks with you. A sad day.

I am glad to see it is still open and not a parking lot like so many others have become. Movies once in a while are better than none at all.

So what is your point? Do you know how many people today think that there are VCR`s in the booth?
I wish I had a dollar for everytime I was asked if I could rewind the movie, so they could see what they missed.

Amen to that, God rest another great man. With all thier great minds I can`t wait to see the theatre they are building up there.

We can all thank that peice of shit named Ronald Reagan for his union busting to help his friends in big business. I am from Pittsburgh, Pa. and look now no more steel mills, and all the people who lost thier lifelong pensions, as well as everthing else.
still the same today, gas prices are going up, companies now hire you for minimum wages (witch they refuse to raise) treat you like gabage took away overtime, and paid vacations, and if you mention union, they can fire you. I seem to remember just recently they voted themselves a cost of living raise. Where is ours?
Norelco
I agree with Keith, seems everyone is trying to save money, and by doing so is f—king over the public, who should matter the most. yes it is a FACT,they do not care as long as they are saving money. Go to another theatre is thier response. I also read recently where they were going to put a platter system in the old girl, that may help a little, but nothing beats a good projectionist that knows what he or she is doing.

No it is not,I can`t remember that much about the place. I know it was a 200 mile trip from our home to the theatre. Dad leased the property, and we had relatives living near by. I know that it has been gone now for over 40 years. The last time i was in the area it was a driving range.

Lostmemory, thanks pal, a graet picture. I was hoping I was not seeing things. I remember I almost caused a major traffic accident, trying to pull over to get a look at this 9 screen drive-in. I started out as a projectionist at my dad`s Midway Drive-In in Pa. between Hummelstown & Middletown Pa. in 1956. I have always had a great love for them. I remember driving along in my Swift tractor trailer and seeing this place and could not remember where it was,and was really impressed.

Very sad indeed, as well as any Thratre anywhere in the Country.
When they tore down the Warner in Pittsburgh, Pa. you would have thought I lost a very dear family member. I loved going to work there. I could not go near fifth ave. for a long time after that, was just to hard to bear.
