Seats immediately in front of and adjacent to the projection booth are showing as unavailable when booking a screening; I intend to visit on Tuesday so will be interesting to see if the booth has been expanded.
The Superscreen is getting a new HDR capable Barco projector, and a new Harkness Hugo screen to coincide with the release of Gladiator II. https://variety.com/2024/film/global/gladiator-2-cineworld-first-hdr-by-barco-theater-international-1236206252/
A response to a comment on Cineworld Leicester Square’s Facebook page says “All brand new seats, screen and equipment!” - wonder if they took the chance to refurbish and update during the closure, or if the landlord stripped everything out?
The VIP product (recliner seats plus an included buffet and snacks) ends as of 8th May, and the screens will reopen at a £3 uplift over normal seats. No news as yet as to whether the bar will be retained for all cinema users and if access to the screens will be altered.
This cinema actually has 20 screens - 18-20 are accessed via a lift to the left of the main foyer, and all seat seating 57 (18-19) or 58 (20) each.
On my visit I found the foyer to be an unpleasant place - very busy, popcorn and sweets all over the floor, and the atmosphere added to by a Fast X trailer on loop which caused all of the speakers to distort. The foyer is also looking quite scruffy with ripped and peeling seating (under posters proclaiming “the future of cinema” and broken screens.
From inside the main foyer, there’s no obvious sign that this screen is closed - the doors are closed and the walkway is roped off. A large 4DX sign is still displayed in the foyer too.
Externally, the empty shop unit that previously displayed film posters (and for which planning permission had been applied to turn into a Cineworld-run snack kiosk) has become a shady looking currency exchange office and mobile phone accessory shop, with the window removed and an ugly roller shutter installed in its place.
As of Monday this screen is closed and cordoned off, due to disputes with the landlord over unpaid rent. An expert is quoted as saying it’s unlikely to reopen as the landlord (different to the rest of the site) has had enough and wants to take back the space. https://www.screendaily.com/news/cineworlds-relationship-with-bruised-uk-landlords-in-the-spotlight-as-leicester-square-4dx-screen-boarded-up-exclusive/5182071.article
Visited here recently to watch The Whale. Foyer has the usual glossy Cineworld fit-out, plus some artwork by a local artist covering the walls in the corridors to the screens. Sadly the place always seems to be something of a ghost town, with the attractive cafe/bar area largely unused. Interestingly it would seem Cineworld built a proper bar here (and also placed glass-fronted fridges behind the snack kiosk that would usually hold alcoholic drinks) however they do not yet have a licence to sell it.
As the foyer and corridors are open to the fabric-roofed Odyssey, in winter they are extremely cold and really not places to linger.
Seating in the screens has retained the original layout, now updated with well-padded seats where the backrest reclines slightly and the base moves forwards - nowhere near the same level as the recliners some other chains are installing as standard now but a step up on Cineworld’s previous generation fit-out.
Finally restaurants are starting to open up on the ground floor (Nando’s and Zizzi) which will probably help trade here, but I think they’ll need to reduce ticket prices to encourage people to visit - Odeon and Movie House both undercut Cineworld by £2.50 per adult ticket.
Now closed. As of January 2021 scaffolding had been erected and the blue cladding starting to be removed: https://pastrewind.wordpress.com/2021/01/19/a-peek-at-harrows-hidden-art-deco-masterpiece/
Planning permission granted (reference 20/01144/LBC) for a full refurbishment with a reinstatement of original entrance design, screen 1 overstepped to allow for sofas to be installed, screens 2 and 3 subdivided to provide four screens, and a refurbishment of the basement bar and toilets.

Due to close by 18th September along with the rest of the leisure park on which it sits, to make way for a new Tesco supermarket and 384 homes
Now has black seats instead of red, the only obvious change.
Now open, will be visiting tomorrow so will report back any changes
According to a post on Reddit the cinema was occupied by squatters a day after closure, who broke a window and barricaded the doors from inside.

VIP lounge is now available to all as a bar and serves as access to the former VIP screens now renumbered 17-19.
