Ryan’s Daughter played here on an actual reserved performance
engagement which meant once the film ended you had to leave the
theater. so since I can’t remember I’m asking if Gandhi was shown
here on reserved performance engagement or a regular continuous
engagement.
for anyone who might own it is the currently available blu-ray
disc of The Sand Pebbles the original roadshow cut which played here
or the general release print?
the only way the Landmark 57 would have been able to make it
is if the residents of the immediate area went there on a regular
basis. that didn’t happen. so LOOK Dine-In Cinemas had better have
a Guardian Angel so it doesn’t happen a second time.
since you asked per se. everytime I went to the Cinema ½/3 I did
in fact ask the highest up managerial staff member I could find
about the escalator and no one was ever able to give me a straight
answer.
according to mOOse1111’s most recent post theaters should be allowed to have their escalators out of service for 4 ½ years. apparently
that’s good customer relations.

I would love to know why the escalator was out of service for almost 4 ½ years??? what reason could the management of this theater give that would be at all credible???
if I am not mistaken the world’s most famous skyscraper the Empire State Building took precisely 19 months to be built. the escalator
at this theater has been out of service since Oct. 2018. given the
Empire State Building info what possible reason could the management
of this theater give that would excuse the escalator being out of
service for 4 ½ years???

SUPER ANNOYING for people not ordering food.
while it is sad I never got to enjoy the Roxy people have to
realize that HUGE theaters like the Roxy were living on borrowed
time the split micro nano second t.v. became commonplace in the American home.
is there any hope this might be a regular movie theater
again? all it shows 99% of the time are Netflix films and for
every Roma, The Irishman, Marriage Story and The Two Popes
there are 50 Thunderforces.

company is consciously letting this theater once one of the
premiere 1st run theaters in Manhattan fall apart so they can
close it and sell the building.
