The Bar Harbour theatre opened on August 26th, 1959. It sue two theatres in October 1960 per:

NY Daily News listings ended in 1976.
Assuming my contention is correct the space is now occupied by a grill called Zim Zar and a Super Cuts.
Although the bulk of the shopping center was torn down, particularly the area which housed Sachs 34th Street (laterly Gimbels) I believe that the portion which housed the Bar Harbor, the left most side at Merrick Road was just renovated. The line of the building which subsequently housed an eatery looks exactly the same as it did previously.

The North Massapequa Theatre was located on the right side of a shopping center (east-west-north-south…can’t remember). Above the theatre lobby was a Fred Astaire Dance Studio. It was an A.I.T. Theatre, which means it looked exactly like the Amity, Bar Harbour, Levittown, Bethpage, Deer Park, Ronkonkoma, and Larkfield Theatres.
Don,
Was the North Massapequa theater on the East side of Hicksville Rd by Rumbottoms just south of SS Parkway? Can’t remember for sure where it was. I remember the Pequa and Bar Harbour theater’s well but not the NM theater. Was there ever a theater in downtown Amity just south of Brunswick hospital? I seem to remember a theater in that area. You seem to have some good knowlege of the area. Got there in 58' left in 89',…miss it terribly! Soon to return!
Thanks Don, I don’t think that one is on here.
Nope. The Bar Harbour Theatre was always that name. The North Massapequa and Pequa Theatres were always those names, too. The North Massapequa Theatre was asecond run house in a shopping Center below a dance studio. The Bar Harbour was an art house, stand alone theatre in the Bar Harbour Shopping Center. The Pequa was a real nice first run stand alone on Sunrise Highway, opposite the Massapequa train station.
I just found a listing for a theatre called North Massapequa Cinema. Is this the Bar Harbour or Pequa with a different name? Or maybe a totally different house?
