Harry Moyer Sr. opened the Sellwood Theatre on April 16, 1938 with Carole Lombard in “Nothing Sacred” along with a few unnamed shorts. It was later operated by CNS Theatres, and finally by the independent chain Family Theatres before closing on February 8, 1997 with “The English Patient”.

The records of architect Day Walter Hilborn list the Sellwood Theatre as a 1938 project.

A few yrs. ago, I came to this site and found a photo of the sellwood theater before it became the sports store. I can’t find it now.

There was a# for the photo if you wanted to order a poster, print etc. but now, no such photo.

ThePoster # was OR 137.

Any chance you have it someplace still?

My parents ran the sellwood theater from the late 1950’s until 1962.

I’d love to find that picture again.

thank you
