Hollywood Theater in 1938

The Hollywood Theatre opened in 1923 seating 420. Even though it was a small neighborhood theatre, it contained a 2/4 Wicks organ. The organ had 22 stops, 292 pipes and a 1 HP Zephyr blower. The organ was later moved to a Methodist Church in Dayton, Washington.

The theatre has been closed for decades now and the building is housed a second-hand store. By early-2013, it was in use as a gymnasium.

According to an October 2000 news article, the Hollywood’s original marquee, with the centerpiece “H,” still stands.

It is now vacant, and probably will be torn down. :(

Late 2012/early 2013 the marquis structure was removed as well as the dark colored square tiles adorning the front of the building.

It is now occupied by a fitness franchise, “L.A. Boxing”.

Wonderful art deco facade. Should be restored as a first run house again. Upscale area of Seattle could support it.
