Nola Theatre

Opened as the Cinema in 1914 it was a neighbourhood nickelodeon. This theatre achieved incredible longevity thanks to its location on W. Wellington Street, and its owner’s decision to wire it for sound. It was renamed Veteran Theatre from 1920 to 1923. It is remembered as the Columbia Theatre by many, and by 1938 it had been renamed Nola Theatre. It ended its movie exhibition life in 1948 when Odeon shifted its operations to the larger Elmdale Theatre down the street. It was demolished in 1972.
