Washington Drive-In

The Washington Drive-In located between Pittsford and East Rochester, NY opened June 27, 1956 by Redstone Drive-In Theaters. Opening movies were Humphrey Bogart in “The Desperate Hours” & John Wayne in “Rio Grande”. By 1957 it was operated by Daytz Theatre Enterprises Corp. It featured in-car heaters and FM radio sound instead of speakers. It was closed in 1988. It had a capacity for 970 cars.

1975ish Aaron Engle + i ditched our 20" sting-rays along side the tall wooden fence, made the climb which wasn’t so bad – it’s the landing and sprint to the front playground that was a fright, back then we had Good Sameritans! We’ve seen TOMMY the Pinball Wizard, the Man Called Horse; just a few, pop-corn and all! We’d ride in from Fpt. grin
