Didn’t Mid-States theaters become USA Theaters before Loews took over?
I worked there briefly in ‘89, before the Loews at the Kenwood Towne Center opened. I was a projectionist at both places that summer. It was a big deal that they were going from reels to platters!
On a side note, does anyone remember the name of the arthouse Downtown during that same time? I only recall it being called The Movies. Any help would be appreciated.
I remember this theater was known for it’s 70mm engagements. I only went there once in 89' to see Indiana Jones & the last crusade, It was spectacular ! I also remember Die Hard in 88' playing there & True Lies in 94' I know Die Hard was playing in 70mm but i’m not sure if True Lies was in 70mm . Though there were talks of it playing in certain theaters in 70mm in 94' i’m not sure if they did away with it by then.
I think that RKO-Stanley Warner Theaters opened it, not Loew’s.

This was originally a Mid-States theatre, like most of the first-run houses in Cincinnati that were not Showcases. Mid-States' entire operation ultimately got folded into Loews, and then Loews sold them all to National Amusements.
It just hit me – Northgate, Tri-County, Kenwood, 275 East…all the multiplexes in Cincinnati that National Amusements inherited from Loews are gutted or demolished. Wow, I am really old!
If it opened as LOEWS KENWOOD then LOEWS must have built it or aquired it before opening I will have to check on this.
August 9 1974 now showing “WHITE DAWN” at 7:40 and 9:40.
I live in Cincinnati and know EXACTLY where those theaters once stood. HOWEVER, the American Bandstand grill has long since closed. Never even got the chance to so much as walk into the building.
