The Sheffield Theatre in the Brownsville-East New York section of Brooklyn was opened in 1917 and closed in 1931.
By 1975, it had been converted into a church and by 2006 it was in use as a warehouse.

A warehouse of some kind is currently located at 308 Sheffield Ave. The NYC Building Dept shows a New Building permit issued and cancelled in 1915. No c of o information is available.

My guess would be that the cost to upgrade for sound pictures wasn’t deemed a worthwhile investment to the owner.
