Opened on April 15, 1925 with Norma Maddox in “Queen’s Temple”. It was equipped with a Wisconsin Organ Company unit organ (a Schaefer organ, built in Slinger, WI) and the instrument was opened by organist Ms. Causey. The Capitol Theatre originally hosted vaudeville and other live stage entertainment in addition to movies. Later renamed the Collins Theatre, the theatre was restored and renovated by the Greene County Fine Arts Council starting in 1991 and is home to the Eastern Arkansas Ballet, live theatre, musical theatre, concerts, and various other events.

Grand opening was October 15, 1925 with Norma Maddox in “Queen’s Temple” and a $10,000 organ recital by Ms. Causey playing the Wisconsin Organ Company unit. On June 28, 1929, the venue added Vitaphone for sound exhibition.
