Please update, total seats 669
The cinema has reopened after a month long renovation and update.
Cinema is undergoing repainting and refurbishing. The new seating configuration will reduce capacity from 1,050 to 669. Owner Phil Solomon expects to reopen by the end of the month. This is the first major renovation since 1994 when a second level and five auditoriums were added.

I moved to Mt Sinai in 2010 after living my entire life on the south shore. I love this theatre. It’s a simple mom and pop theatre that reminds me of the West Islip theatre when I was a kid. Cheap prices makes it manageable to take the family to the movies.
I remember seeing the enforcer/deliverance double feature back in 1978… 2 good movies for the price of 1. those were the days.
Their new theater website is http://mypjcinemas.com/
This is another great “old time” atmosphere theater, that still has the personal touch.
A great neighborhood theater, great people, great indepentent movie showings, and a place with a friendly personal touch make this my favorite place to go to see a movie. Phil, the owner, cares about the quality of his films, cares about how the place is run, and cares about how people are treated.
It’s such a great find. Once you’ve seen a really good movie here that isn’t playing in all the other multiplexes, you’ll come back again and again. Thanks again for years of good times and great movies!
Danio, that’s because it was, and still is more of a “mom and pop” type of place.
We always loved calling for showtimes at this theater, because the owner recorded them himself (don’t know if that’s still the case) and would add editorial comments occasionally. It used to be the PJ Twins. I remember how cool I thought it was that there were theaters upstairs! Hey, it was a novel idea to a kid in the early eighties!
I’ve probably seen more movies at this theater than any other- mostly because my parents live closest to it!
Nice to see and rare to see a indi MULTIPLEX do so well in this type of market.
Yes, it is a nice mom and pop type of theater.
if you click on their official website above, and click “PJ piques”, there are some really cool “theater stories”, something you would only find with a mom and pop theater.
This mom and pop theater outlasted the big boys and still does well today. People like the owner
