The Coram was one of the older surviving shopping center theaters. Located in the Pine Shopping Center, it was opened as the Pine Cinema on August 22, 1973 with Julie Andrews in “The Sound of Music”. On November 14, 1980 it was twinned and on April 12, 1985 it became the Pine Cinema Quad. On April 6, 1995 with 6-screens it became Movieland of Coram. On October 13, 1995 it became an 8-screen movie theatre (later reduced to 7-screens)
It still had an old time, more intimate feel to it, from before the megaplexes started to take over. It was closed on September 7, 2023.

Located in the corner of what was originally the Pine Shopping Center, the theater achieved it’s multiplex status by chopping up the original building and expanding it’s footprint in both directions.
There were a group of lawyers responsible for both this theater and what was, then, Movieland of Mastic. This fact is particularly interesting since they expanded the Mastic venue without the necessary permits.
Please update, theatre in the early 1970’s as a single theatre, became a twin in 1981 and a quad in 1985. Theatre was known as the Pine Cinemas, in 1995 it became a 7 screen complex as the Movieland Cinemas

Please update, CLOSED: Dear Valued Patrons, It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closure of our beloved community-focused movie theater for the foreseeable future. This decision has not been made lightly, but it has become necessary due to the challenges of high rent and declining foot traffic. Over the years, our theater has been a place where the community has come together to enjoy films, create memories, and celebrate the magic of cinema. We have cherished every moment spent with you, our loyal patrons, and the support you have shown us. We want to extend our sincere thanks to each and every one of you who has been a part of our theater’s journey. It’s been an incredible ride, and we couldn’t have done it without you. We are going to miss hosting your birthday parties, special events, gaming tournaments, sensory friendly screenings, Princess/ Superhero meet-and-greets, and so much more. Additionally, we would like to take a moment to express our deep appreciation for our dedicated movie theater staff. Their hard work, passion for the community, and commitment to creating exceptional experiences have been the heart and soul of our theater. They have tirelessly worked behind the scenes to bring you the best in cinema, always with a smile and a warm welcome (and hot, fresh popcorn that we all love so much!). We are grateful for their unwavering support and the countless ways they’ve helped make our theater a place of warmth and hospitality. Our staff members truly embody the spirit of community, and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their outstanding contributions. While our doors may be closing for now, the memories we’ve created together will live on. We encourage you to continue supporting your local arts and entertainment venues to keep the spirit of community alive. Thank you for being a part of our theater’s story, and we hope that this is a temporary speed-bump and will soon make a comeback! With love and gratitude, Nicole Rapp General Manager Movieland Cinemas If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send us an email

A reality is that the PJ Cinemas are just down the road in neighboring Port Jefferson Station. Before the reno I didn’t think much of this place.
