Originally opened in 1919 as the Coleman Theatre, by 1930 it had been renamed Louis Theatre. I attended this theatre during the early-1940’s when I lived two blocks away. Then it was then named the Jackson Theatre (I lived at 711 Jackson Avenue). I remember the Saturday matinees where for 25 cents the kids in the area could see three full length films plus a cartoon and adventure serial. There also was the overweight matron in her white uniform who walked the aisles trying to keep the kids quiet.
The theatre was finally renamed Borinquen Theatre and was still open in 1957 operated by Harris Theatrical Enterprises. It later closed and is now a grocery store.

It’s funny those matrons were always overweight and the uniform two sizes too small :)
Listed in the Film Daily Yearbook 1930 edition as the Louis Theatre with a seating capacity of 728.
By the 1941 edition of F.D.Y. it was the Jackson Theatre with 599 seats (same details in the 1943 edition).
In the 1950 edition of F.D.Y. it is the Borinquen Theatre with a seating capacity of 570. Disappeared from listings in 1957 edition.
