The Embassy Theatre was opened on Fecember 29, 1947 with James Stewart in “Magic Town”. It was run by Claughton Theaters, who had a number of theatres in the Greater Miami area. It had a sister theatre, the Royal Theatre, right next door. Both theatres were demolished in the mid-1950’s to make way for a large bank and office complex

The correct street for this theatre was S.E. First Street, right next door to the Royal Theatre which was 310 S.E. First.
The Embassy opened in 1948 and closed in 1956.
The Royal opened in 1941 and closed in 1956. Both were replaced by the First National bank.
I remember seeing “Stars in My Crown” starring Joel McRae in 1950
at the Embassy Theatre. I went with my mother or grandfather.
It was a nice theatre, but the decor was a bit on the
“Country Living”/1890s style as I seem to remember.
This opened on December 29th, 1947. Grand opening ad posted here.
