Ward with Titan Luxe

The Ward Stadium opened May 25, 2001 with “Pearl Harbor”. The first direct competition to the Restaurant Row 9. It is located in the upscale Ward Center. Ward Theatres renovated one of the large auditoriums, reopened on June 18, 2010, as Titan XC, with a 66' x 35' large format screen, upgraded reserved seating, and a digital 3D projector. On March 18, 2016, Ward Theatres launched The Premiere Wing. One wing (6 screens) was converted entirely to luxury recliners with reserved seating. The wing was restricted to 21+ years old only and included a special alcohol bar. In December 2016, Ward Theatres converted a second auditorium to a large format, this time called TITAN LUXE, because of its luxury recliners. At the same time, they abandoned the Premiere Wing concept and its 21+ restriction, moving alcohol sales to the normal concession stand.

By September 2017, Ward converted all the remaining auditoriums to reserved seating with luxury recliners, including converting the original Titan XC auditorium to a second Titan Luxe.

This opened on May 25th, 2001 with “Pearl Harbor” along with the Signature Windward Stadium 10. Grand opening ad in the photo section. This marks the end of the megaplex boom for Honolulu.

Great memories of my wife and I taking our then-young son to the special midnight grand openings of the 2nd and 3rd Lord of the Rings movies here, back in late 2002 and late 2003. Of course, we saw many other movies here before leaving Hawaii in 2005, but those two are special because our son was at that “movies are pure magic” stage of childhood.
