Opened as the Crescent Theatre in 1914 on Boston Road near Home Street in the Morrisania area of the South Bronx. It could seat a little under 1,700. During the 1940’s, the theatre was renamed the Tower Theatre, and by the 1950’s, it again got a new name, the Carver Theatre. Today, the building, with its still-ornate white terra-cotta façade (now covered in sheeting), houses a church, the New Covenant Dominion Cathedral.
