This theater has been closed for over a year now and is listed for sale. The following is a link to a story about this.

It is my understanding that any new owner must agree to not reopening this a theater though.
A recent mini-remodel added reclining leather seats to lower level of the theater and has closed off the upper balcony.
Boxoffice, July 19, 1976: “CASPER, WYO. – Collapse of part of the Rialto Theatre ceiling June 21 slightly injured four persons here, hospitalizing one with minor injuries. The others were treated and released. An estimated ton of plaster and steel mesh dropped into the balcony area, officials said, but missed most of the 20 persons seated in the balcony. Cause of the collapse was identified as a water leak in the roof which softened the plaster.”
Reopened on August 20th, 2004 after upgrades. Ad in photo section.
Reopened as Rialto on October 17th, 1922. article:

stephangelos, this may be asking a lot, assuming you even check this site anymore, but since 1975, has there been a planter out front? I’m trying to reconstruct some memories, and I recall seeing a double feature: Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry and Vanishing Point there in 1975, but I can’t remember if it was the Rialto or the America theater. Any help from anyone would be appreciated.
Like tag on the marquee"see a movie Tonight" don’t recall seeing such a thing on a marquee.Over powers “NETWORK"which should never happen on a marquee.

Commonwealth leased the Rialto and the America in the 70’s and possibly further back than that.
I worked part time at the Rialto as a manager for many years. It’s a great treasure. I’m glad it’s still around.
Can’t tell you much about the history of this theater located at 2nd and Center other than the fact that Commonwealth Theaters leased the theater in 80s. In the late 80s it was sold and then remodeled. I remember standing in line several times to watch a double feature for just $1.50. Also remember, as many did waiting to see movies there for a cheap price, as they had play at the theater in Eastridge Mall or Beverly Plaza before moving to the America or Rialto downtown. The first of many double futures watched was BIG and something with John Candy I think. Last year the theater was remodeled once again. The movie screen size was reduced during this remodel.
The Rialto Theatre seated 753 people.
