Abbey Lane Theatre

Opened November 22, 1940 as the Lane Theatre and later after renovations it was renamed the Abbey Lane on June 4, 1954. The building itself was typical of the 1940’s with the squared off front on the building. After closing in 1959 it became a goodwill store for some years and then later became a matttress retail store.

Exterior photo from 2010. The interior has been completely gutted and all external indicators (e.g. marquee, poster frames, etc.) long removed leaving nothing but the shell of what must has been a rather spectacular streamline cinema.
