Louisburg Theater

A small home town theater that was opened by May 1931. It was rebuilt and reopened on September 22, 1939. It was owned and operated through the Colonial Theatres chain from 1949 until 1975, and later was operated by Benfield Theatres from 1975 until 1980, when Carmike Cinemas acquired it.

The Louisburg Theater was twinned in the early-1990’s and since then has operated as an independent theatre. It was renovated in 2003. It has a lot of history and still gave the older theater feel, unlike the new up-to-date theaters.

Sadly, the Louisburg Theater was closed in October 2009 and it was demolished in December 2025.

No showtime or website for this cinema as of December 30th, 2009. Is this cinema still active?

Carmike Cinemas did not exist until 1982, when they bought Martin Theatres; they used the Martin name until 1985. Was the Louisburg Theatre sold to Martin in 1980 or to Carmike at a later date?
