Sunset Drive-In

Rich in history dating back to its opening on August 31 1950 with William Holden in “Dear Wife”. The Sunset Drive-In was named for the beautiful sunset that was taking place during the building of our marquee. Since that time the drive-in has gone through many changes, from a one screen 300 car capacity outdoor theatre and small coffee shop to in 1995, a three screen theatre with a full service family restaurant.

It was closed at the end of the 2021 season and in June 2022 it was announced it would not be opening for the 2022 season as the owners are retiring and it has been put up ‘For Sale’.

On the map link above, just scroll to the left a little… Address is off a tad. If you type in 9474 Telegraph Rd it takes you right to it.

The Sunset went up for sale in January 2022, per a Buffalo Business Journal story, which said owners Mark Zambito and Denise Stornelli want to retire. Its web site says it’s closed for the 2022 season.

On one hand, someone updated the Sunset’s web page, now http://sunsetdrive-in.com/, to say that it’s “closed for the 2023 season.” On the other hand, it’s still closed.

Hoping and praying that some dedicated drive-in theater enthusiast buys the Sunset and reopens it in the near future
