Mr. William MacDonald and his wife Dolly opened the Star-Top Drive-In on May 15, 1950 after purchasing the Plank Road property from realtor Mr. Francis Shaw. It originally housed 450 cars but later expanded to 480 cars.
The MacDonalds operated the Star-Top Drive-In throughout its first 17 years of operation until 1967 when it was sold to Ucan Amusements Limited, who renamed the theater the Mustang Drive-In. Premiere Theatres Canada took it over in 1972 and operated the drive-in until 1986 when Atkin Enterprises took over the Mustang. It closed at the end of the 1988 season and was immediately demolished.

Correction: After Atkin Enterprises took over the Mustang in 1986, Atkin operated the Mustang for two more seasons until closing after the 1988 season. It was immediately demolished afterward.
