The Star Theatre was opened by 1946 when it was operated by W.B, Freebody Property Ltd. It was operated by Capitol Canberra Picture Theatres in 1969. It closed some time in the 1970’s, the Star Theatre became a community theatre called the Nova Theatre, which showed occasional movies till it was sold in 1986. The building remains, but is now part of a shopping mall.
