Litchfield Theatres opened the Carolina Mall Cinema with 8-screens on November 26, 1986 replacing the old Carolina Mall Cinema 4 which has it’s own page on Cinema Treasures. The theatre opened with a total capacity of 1,800-seats varying from 150 to 300 seats. Litchfield Theatres was purchased by United Artists Theatres on July 31, 1987
When UA merged with Regal, it was acquired by Southeast Cinemas which also purchased the Eastgate Theatre.
In 2012, it was expanded to 12 screens.
