This first opened as the Capitol Theatre and operated as early as the 1920s, but was destroyed by a fire in 1948. Following the fire, the Empire Theatre became the only movie house in Kentville until three years later, when the former site of the Capitol Theatre was rebuilt, and reopened later that year in 1951 as the Paramount Theatre, housing 746 seats and operated by Famous Players, who also operated the Empire. The Paramount Theatre closed for the final time in 1999.
In 2002, the Paramount Theatre building was purchased by Valley Gate Vineyard, which repurposed the space for ministry and later established a transitional housing program for young men.
