Located in the Neukolln district in the south of the city centre. Originally on this site was the Stern-Lichtspiele which had opened in 1914. The Palast-Kino Stern was built in 1924, opening on 23rd January 1925. It was designed in an Art Deco/Streamline Moderne style by architects Heinrich Moller & Max Bishoff. There were two retail units on the ground floor each side of the cinema entrance, above which were apartments. Seating in the auditorium was provided for 1,197-seats (668-seats in the orchestra level and 529-seats in the balcony level). A large circular dome in the auditorium ceiling had a star shape in its centre, from which hung a large decorative light fixture. It was initially operated as a independent cinema.
It suffered damage by Allied bombs during World War II. It was taken over by the Ufa chain in 1946, but it took 10-years before work could begin on repairs which were carried out in 1956 to the plans of architects Heinz Giesbier & Pierre de Born. The Palast-Kino Stern was closed in 1973. It was converted into a supermarket.
