Around 1915, the Union Theatre and the A.O.H. (Ancient Order of Hibernians) represented the active cultural, social, and entertainment fabric of Westerly, Rhode Island. Both served as critical community hubs for different segments of the town’s expanding population. The Union Theatre (often locally referred to as the Union Theater) was a prominent amusement venue that hosted live stage performances, traveling vaudeville acts, and early silent movies.
