The Bruce Theatre was a conversion of retail space located in the Jack LaCour Building. It opened June 1, 1944 with Margaret O'Brien in “Lost Angel” followed by a June 3, 1944 formal opening with Robert Walker in “See Here, Private Hargrove". By 1950 it was operated by the New Orleans based chain Associated Theaters. It was closed in 1957 and reverted back to retail space. The building was demolished in the 1980’s and the site is now a small park.
