The Blacksville Drive-In, one mile west of town on Route 7, was scheduled to open on August 27, 1948, according to a note in that week’s issue of Boxoffice. Owner/manager Guy Pauley of Core, who had operated portable film exhibitions, planned to use central speakers for “blast sound.”

The 1955-1956 Theatre Catalog included the Blacksville, capacity 200, owner Robert Bartlett.

A 1958 aerial photo showed a drive-in about a mile west of Blacksville on Highway 7. It had been replaced by houses by 1982.

Both 1973 and 1977 topos show the drive-in listed, but I cannot confirm if its still operating at the time.

A rare drive-in indeed. The back half of the ramps crossed into Pennsylvania. Meaning you could watch the movie from another state.

I wonder how many drive-ins actually did just that. A single drive-in crossing two different states is very rare to find.
